Jack Norman born in 1933 began his art studies in 1946 at the studio of

Miniver Stowell studying oil portrait painting for three years.  He served in the Air Force and completed two years of study in science, literature, and arts at Augsburg College.  In the fall of 1959, he entered the School of Associated Arts completed a degree in commercial art, with a major in painting.  He worked for 32 years as a commercial artist with an emphasis in designing and illustrating.  He continued to paint the rest of his life.

 

In 1963 he started working mainly in transparent watercolor.  As a

watercolorist he is a purist, using no opaque white or exotic tricks.  He preferred these subjects; seascapes, portraits, figures, and landscapes.  He has exhibited throughout the Midwest, winning many awards for his work.  He is represented in private collections as well as commercial and has won awards in transparent watercolor, pencil, acrylic, and oil.
